Update on me..xo

Trudes asked me to make her a small notebook for her handbag and also one for her friend..so these are them...I made the one above with her in mind but she can choose when she receives them...and hopefully they can leave Australia for Holland this week...

My lovely son Al, now 28 years old and his goooorgeous partner Zoe...I will miss them when we leave.
The cover of a slightly larger journal I made and took out to the gallery to sell. I recycled old op-shop tapestries which are so pretty.
Some of the little 'poetry' canvasses I made for the gallery. I really enjoyed sitting making these as it was time-consuming and slow and peaceful.
The leaf brooch from Holland Trudy sent me...it is very pretty..and the beads beside it are some she gave me too..made from paper..wrapped very tightly..
My 'office'...sitting in bed with the laptop is one of my pleasures in the morning...I was emailing through the details of the art to the gallery this day...taking photos and measurements and thinking up names for each piece of work...then I forget which is which when they sell.

I joined Goodreads, a site ALL about books and reading and I LOVE it! There are also wonderful quotes which I have decided I might use from time to time.
I'm sitting here with the rain coming down again outside..all grey and wet..looking at art and photos of family and feeling quite joyful..which is lovely as lately I have been unwell and feeling unable to cope..bursting into tears at the drop of a hat but I think it was due to my little little bout of flu. Luckily my version of the flu lasts for a day and sometimes two. I really believe sometimes it is just telling me that I need to slow down and stop for a break. So I was unwell but still able to sit on the bed and sort through my collage papers, working out which to keep for when we come back for our short 3 months or which to store out in Dalby for a couple of years..I really enjoyed that as I love paper ephemera anyway...I always have since I was a little girl..collecting bits and pieces of old books etc..now I am making artist books I have finally worked out what to do with it all..
Last nite was another family dinner..this time for Alex's 28th birthday. He has some really nice friends and they are nearly all musicians I think. The music community are very caring and lovely..at least those I have met through Al. They all treat me well and hug me when we leave etc..it really is like a big family.
I wanted to show some of my art this time...it is slowing down a bit as we pack up more and more..all my big furniture has gone. The last piece went yesterday...I'm looking forward to setting up my art supplies back in my 'studio corner' on the 16th floor next to the window in Ottawa and painting some bigger canvasses again.
