Halifax

I am sitting looking out at the dark sky of Halifax...we arrived at Don's mum's place yesterday at about 5...I was pretty tired after 2 days of driving...the first day was 12 hours...yesterday not so bad. We visited the Flowerpot Rocks at Hopewell where they have the highest tides in the world!! 30 foot tides...it was incredible...and really interesting..if I can plug the camera in without the cord (???) I might be able to upload some pics....we saw some fishing boats all sitting on the bottom of the little harbour waiting for....WATER.....one was flying pirate flags...

Didn't do much French last week Trudes, but I am understanding a lot more lately when we read signs and papers etc.

Forgot to mention lunch...yummy mussels...the seafood down here is good...lobster country.

Brisbane in July

We've had the most beautiful weekend here after a cold week.
Friday night we went to Tim and Ree's and had drinks and yummy pizza. It was nice to hang out with them, we haven't seen them in awhile.
Saturday morning I went to the Osteo who twisted me into a pretzel and told me I need to stretch or my knee will be buggered . . . fun times.
I met Laura for lunch in West End and we had a good talk.

Last night Tom, Alex and I went to Laura's (my boss) restaurant in Albion. It was so wonderful. Mario, Laura's husband is the head chef and the food was so awesome. We had antipasto to start and I could eat that forever. I had Osso Bucco for the main which was yummy. Everyone really enjoyed their meals.
Tom and I have been together for 18months as of yesterday so it was nice to go out for a nice dinner.

Today we played soccer and it was such a beautiful day I managed to convince Tom to go for a bike ride along the river. It was a great idea except for the fact that we haven't looked at Tom's bike since we last moved. A few technical difficulties (chain kinked, no brakes) meant that the bike idea was ditched but we got some fish and chips and went to the park at the river.

Triple J's Hottest 100 of all time is on today so sat in the park with the car doors open listening.
Right now it's Foo Fighters at No.9.

Mum, I hope you are practising your French while you are travelling. Where are you at the moment?

xxxxxx

am sitting here eating berries...blueberries and raspberries...yum. I think I'm turning vegetarian almost...don't eat much red meat anymore - had steamed vegetables for breakfast with fresh avocado on top.I marinated chicken for the bbq on Sat nite at Mike and Donna's and it was good. Don and I played tennis yesterday which was fun...I haven't tried that for years but could hit the ball...we had a couple of rallies. went to the market at Parkdale again on Saturday and bought fresh fruit and vegies...I like that place.

a poem...

listening to Ben Lee on my 16th floor balcony
watching the rain soak in
feeling the cool air surround the building
thinking of aussie music in Canada.
a bit tired, a bit lazy but content.
legs aching from yesterday's workout.
sitting down is better.
red geraniums make me smile
trailing ivy is soft
pink daisies are happy
all this on my balcony.
Ben Lee says 'love is the answer'

driving in Canada!!! Me me me!!!
